On Monday Gayhurst's debating team took part in the Debate Mate Cup at the London School of Economics, featuring 52 schools and 78 teams from across London. Gayhurst did fantastically well, debating on whether war toys should be banned and if advertising aimed at children should stop, amongst other topics. We did so well that one of our squads finished fifth while the other scored the most points of all of the teams and made the Grand Final, debating on stage in front of around 300 people! The topic was 'this house regrets the rise of the TV talent show'. The team were outstanding, narrowly missing out on winning the Grand Final. It was an amazing achievement.
